The space is inspired by mid-century Danish design, using bold geometric lines throughout the design, focusing on the structured and textural interior. The mid-century modern furnishings reflect the client’s interest in the timeless style, going well with any changes made in the space. Using art deco in inspiration for the space, the dark tones express how elegant and warm, the walnut wood combined with the coldness of the metal show a sense of closed space for a comfortable and relaxing lifestyle. Built around mid-century materials, especially in the ridden glass as a false wall, to give privacy by blocking out the toilet and bath from the view. The leather and walnut wood material gives light tones to the space, contrasting with the dirty green marble. This design uses vintage furniture, combining the existing modern features and mid-century.

Rick Owens, a fashion designer and his partner Michèle Lamy have been working in and out of Paris for work. He and his partner have numerous homes, and are looking into a place to be designed in one of their home locations in Sydney (2 Short Street, Surry Hills, Sydney, NSW, Australia) with an area space of 660mm. The client has a simple private living space and is a perfections, a fan of collecting cultural totems/sculptural arts, and loves to spend time reading. Their requirements are to have an ensuite bedroom, walk-in-wardrobe, and a bathroom space; they want a classic, old fashion dark concept. The property was built in the 1920s, so it is restricted by the level of the solid concrete ceilings and floors, the windows, the columns can’t be removed from the space as it is holding up the building and the electrical parts in the room, and has a brick wall side of the space. Suggesting the limited changes that can be done on the space, is the air condition vent changing to a hidden ceiling vent, rather than it being open and creating a false wall, and using only ceiling hang lights due to the pipes. Since they are in and out of the country, they want to stay for a long period of time, and want to change the look of the interior.
